I’ll spend more if there are more perks like a raffle, nice prizes, full tables, etc. I really can’t see spending more than $85 for a weekend, though. It would depend heavily on the show and who was running it and the number and types of divisions. Right now I won’t even consider an OFP only show.
I really dislike having to declare a color because as we’ve seen some judges get persnickety about color designations. It gets really hairy with mules because those patterns get WEIRD and I once almost got DQed for misnaming a donkey spotting pattern. I don’t think it really adds anything to require color designations, though I’m aware of a couple shows that do it. If it’s a rare/unusual color then provide some documentation that it exists in the breed.
I’ve only been to china shows recently and for that every horse has its own box. For the ones I didn’t have their original shipping box I made custom ones with an inexpensive memory foam mattress topper cut to size. I try to load these into large totes to save some trips. Unloading is a bit of a pain, but I try to be organized and arrange my horses by class on the table. When a horse doesn’t need a callback it just goes back in its box and when I have a full tote it goes back in the car if I feel it will be safe. For plastic I interchange pony pouches and just line them up in the totes so it’s really easy. I don’t fly to shows so it’s not difficult.
