I’m late to the party (I just learned about this forum yesterday!), but naming is a Big Thing for me, so I’ll chime in fwiw. :)
I also follow the naming conventions of a breed’s registry. Naming tends to be TOUGH for me, though, as I tend to waaay overthink it. Is that the absolute best name I can come up with? Will I think of something better six months from now? What about a year? Two years? Or I have a list of three or four possible names that are all nice, but none are exactly right. At what point is a name just good enough?
In a very few instances, though, a name has popped into my head with no effort or thought required. When I unboxed my Partly Cloudy Weather Girl and heard the bit of plastic rattling around inside her, I knew her name was Windchime. I just wish they were all that easy!
I like naming models, and I’m quite pleased with many that I come up with (I also keep running lists of possible names!), but I do make it much harder for myself than it needs to be, lol!
